Q:  How long have you been with Rotary Lift?

Howard:  Just over 4 years. It has gone by fast!

selfie_2Q:  What do you enjoy about your job?

Howard:  The diversity. I have had similar marketing positions within other companies that certainly did not provide the overall scope of projects – keeps things lively! Plus, I work with a great group of super-talented professionals.

Q:  What is your background in graphic design?

Howard:  I graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a fine arts degree. The core emphasis of classes targeted graphic design and illustration. Go Colonels!

My career has taken me to a few cities, a few ad agencies and over 13 years in newspaper publishing.

Q:  What is something people may not know about graphic design?

Good question. Most young people looking at this as a career choice may not understand the overall responsibilities that come with it. Yes, you are asked to be a creative outlet for the company, but in most cases you’ll find yourself managing projects from start to finish too. You wear a lot of hats - it is not necessarily a 9 to 5 life.

Q:  During your work career what are you most proud of?

Howard:  I have won my share of awards and the recognition is great but in the day to day the highest achievements and successes are based on exceeding the needs of your clients. Creating relationships that work well and the bottom line is have we met these set challenges and goals?

Q:  What does a normal day at work consist of?

Howard:  Wow. Define normal. Each day is different! I could be designing anything from a new logo, new product brochures, ads, posters – you name it. Setting up photo shoots, working with a number of vendors and of course taking care of the large network of distributors who take care of us makes up a large part of what we do. There is a broad spectrum of needs to handle each day.

Q:  What is one fun fact about you that people may not know?

Howard:  I’ve bungee jumped from 250 feet…once. I’m working on my bucket list.

bikingQ:  What do you enjoy doing in your time away from work?

Howard:  I absolutely adore my family. They are #1! My wife Kara and my two daughters keep me busy. We do so much together and try to laugh a lot and enjoy each day to the fullest.

I grew up snow skiing in my hometown. That became a real passion early on in life. My travels on skis have taken me all over North America. Plus my love for bicycling was rekindled about 20 years ago when I decided that getting in better shape was a priority. I have pedaled over 45,000 miles since then.

Q:  Are you more of a music guy, sports guy or both?

Howard:  Both. To me, they go hand in hand. I played sports growing up and was in band too! I have been in my share of rock bands over the years playing behind the drum kit.

Q:  If you purchased one Rotary Lift product what would it be?  Why?

Howard:  I would install a SHOCKWAVE™-equipped SPOA10 two-post lift. My dream home garage would have more than one lift in it, but this is the service industry’s standard lift you’ll find everywhere for good reason. Click here to find out more.
