Mark: In April 2015, it will be 21 years.
Q: What do you enjoy about your job?
Mark: As the OEM Account (the auto companies) Manager, the things I enjoy the most are traveling to the different events (conferences, regional meetings, etc.) and interacting with people. I also enjoy the opportunity of getting to see vehicles in development at an early stage, concept cars that never make it to production, and a lot of other interesting vehicles you don’t normally get to see in Madison, Indiana. The photo is me attending the Mercedes Benz National Parts & Service Conference held at the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans, which was an exciting event.
Q: What is your background with the OEM’s?
Mark: I have had this position for 17 of my 21 years at Rotary and have made a lot of good contacts. I mainly work with those within service engineering at each of the OEM’s, who are those that figure out how to fix a vehicle after it is designed.
Q: What is one thing about working with OEM’s that people may not know?
Mark: How much they respect the Rotary brand. It has been amazing to me to see how well respected our brand is. Just our name alone has gotten me into a lot of doors that I probably otherwise wouldn’t have gotten into. And many of those that I work with have used our products and used them for a long time. In the vehicle service business, our brand is darned near iconic.
Mark: That’s easy- my son, Dylan. He is 8 years old and in the second grade. My life changed for the better when he was born, and it keeps getting better all the time. I’m very proud of him and he is such a good kid. We have done a lot of fun things together and I look forward to doing many more in the future! (The photo is us together after his team won his baseball playoff last summer, a proud Dad moment!).
Q: What is one fun fact about you that people may not know?
Mark: My cousin- David Schram- is a Broadway actor and from 1990-1997, was on a hit TV show on NBC called “Wings”. Here is a photo of me, my sister Jenne and my cousin Ted with David when the show was still running, and a picture of David in character.
Q: What do you enjoy doing in your time away from work?
Mark: I love to cook, dine out, read, everything about music (listening to it, discovering something new, seeing live performances), going to my son’s activities (sports, school programs, etc.), technology and traveling.
Q: If you could only have one sports team who would it be, and why?
Mark: If I could “HAVE one sports team”, as in “OWN”?? Well, I would probably pick an NFL team, because they are more lucrative than a baseball, basketball or hockey team. And of the NFL teams, I suppose I would pick the San Diego Chargers, only because they’re in San Diego and then I could live there! But if I could “have one team” as in only be a fan of one team, it would be my alma mater, the University of Kentucky basketball team.
Q: If you purchased one Rotary Lift product what would it be? Why?
Mark: The SmartLift just because it makes the most sense. It takes up less room, is easier to work around and it looks better.
