Force Behind the Lift - Shaun Runyon

Today we are talking to Shaun Runyon, Webmaster for Rotary Lift.

Have you ever “Googled?”  Of course you have.  Did you notice that the most relevant sites tend to come up first on your search page?  Well, that is no accident.  There is a complicated set of rules that must be followed in order to have your site remain in those coveted spots.  At Rotary, that job along with many others, fall primarily on one man, Shaun Runyon.  Let’s meet the “Google Guy.”

Q: How long have you been with Rotary Lift?

Shaun: I started working at Rotary Lift in December of 2013.  The first thing I noticed was that my back was to the marketing director, David Fischmer and he had a glass wall and could see my monitors over my shoulder.  I thought to myself "they really want to keep an eye on what I'm doing".   I must have done something right, because now I have my own cubical.

Q: What do you enjoy about your job?

Shaun: I enjoy my job because I work with a group of really talented people and we make success happen. Jared Miller and I were tasked with redesigning and building 4 websites and several different campaigns for the company in 2014.  Rotary Lift had a record breaking year in 2014 and we did our part to help.

Q: What is some specifics of what you do?

Shaun: My job title is Webmaster and I deal with both the front and back end of our websites, the SEO (search engine optimization) and over all website performance. My position helps with producing leads and allows people from all around the world to access information about our products from any device at any time.

Q: What is one thing about working in where you do that people may not know?

Shaun: Since the inception of our current Webteam, we have dramatically increased the amount of traffic to the VSG sites and established a quality lead generating system.

Q: What is one of the biggest challenges to your job?

Shaun: Keeping up with different technologies as they change and develop for so many different devices.   For example, Google changes its formula constantly, so it’s a daily challenge to stay relevant and on the forefront.

Q: During your work career or personal life what are you most proud of?

Shaun: I'm most proud of the family the Lord has blessed me with. My wife and I have been married for almost 7 years and we have 3 kids. Our journey has taken us on quite a ride, from working 4 jobs and attending 2 colleges, all to provide for our family.  No matter what the job or location we intend to do it together and that's what I'm most proud of.

Q: What is one fun fact about you that people may not know?shaun_1

Shaun: I served two tours in Afghanistan with the Army and now I'm in the Air Force Reserves with 6 years until retirement.

Q: What do you enjoy doing in your time away from work?

Shaun: I enjoy hanging out with family and friends, grilling out, playing sports, hunting morel mushrooms, going to church, and helping out with the youth group at church.

Q: Are you a music person or a sports person?

Shaun: I like playing sports but I don't have a favorite team. My favorite singer is David Crowder.

Q: If you purchased one Rotary Lift product what would it be? Why?

Shaun: I would buy the SPO10SW. That would lift anything I own and lift it twice as fast as a standard lift, plus I could use the Spotline to align my vehicle correctly.
